The Beginning!!

Hi everyone! Welcome to my very first post!! I"m so excited to see what God does with this! To start off, I'll tell you a little about myself and the purpose of this blog.

My name is Lex! I have many interests and things I enjoy doing but my tops are playing the piano, drinking coffee, and spending time with the people I love. I have always loved writing but it was just recently that I realized that maybe God was calling me to encourage others through it. As I am writing this post, our world is in the middle of an uncertain and difficult time. We're in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. We look all around us and see despair, worry, and uncertainty. But we as Christians have a hope, a hope in Christ Jesus! While we may not know what the future holds, we know the One who does! That is the purpose of this blog, to remind us of the hope that we have even while living in a world of despair.

So my plan for this blog is to post once or twice a week. It may be a new recipe to try, a craft to do, or maybe how God used a song to encourage me. In every post, I will share something God has taught me from my devotions that week. Please feel free to comment, but I ask that all comments be glorifying to God, uplifting and encouraging to other believers, and relevant to the post. If you have a question, please feel free to email me!

I can't wait to start this journey of blogging with y'all!!

Here are some thoughts I took away from my devotions this morning:

Job 1:20-21 "Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. And he said, 'Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord."
-Job lost all that he had, all that he loved. As soon as he heard, he mourned and cried out, and yet he still worshiped God. He hurt and cried, but he knew everything he had was God's. He knew God had every right to take everything away from him. Even in his weeping and mourning, he did not sin and instead trusted in God. Even when life happens and trials come my way, God is still God. He owns and controls everything. It's ok to be sad and mourn what we've lost or are going through, but worship should be right behind. Always remember that everything is God's and He can do whatever He pleases. Mourn, but trust. Weep, but worship.
