He is in Control

Hey everyone! Sorry it's been so long! Life's been a little crazy.

The future seems so uncertain. A close and dear friend lost her father and has to learn what her normal life will be like now, our country is in turmoil and unrest, Covid-19 continues to spread, I recently graduated and am having to make decisions and seek what God has for me. It's so easy to feel despair and frustration through all of this. We worry about our economy, our jobs, our family.....it's all uncertain and overwhelming. And yet, we are not the ones ultimately in control of our lives. The same God who created the world we live in, is the God who controls the events of the world. He knows the pain and sorrow you are feeling. He knows the worry you have for your loved ones. He knows what your future holds.
One of my favorite chapters in the Bible is Psalm 139. I want to share verses 7-12 and 16-18 with you.

v. 7-12
Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.

v. 16-18
Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.

In verses 7-12, David declares that no matter where he goes- to the highest of heavens to the lowest parts of the earth to the farthest east to the most distant west- God is still there. Even in the darkest of moments, it is not dark to God. He knows all and sees all. Verses 16-18 continues that. Before we were even born, God had every single day of our lives written out. He knew our every thought and action. He knew every single thing that would happen to us. His thoughts are so great and so many, that the number of the pieces of sand on the shore is too small to compare.

Is our God not amazing and wonderful? If we know He is so great and mighty, there is no need to worry. We will experience pain and sorrow in this life, but we have a beautiful peace knowing that God is in control. That every single day of our life has been planned before the beginning of time and He will complete what He has already planned for us. Even through the difficult and uncertain times, He is working His plan out for His glory and our good.

Devotion:
So instead of sending a devotion, I am going to send a piece of a song that has been so meaningful in the past few weeks.

Mine are tears in times of sorrow
Darkness not yet understood
Through the valley I must travel
Where I see no earthly good
But mine is peace that flows from heaven
And the strength in times of need
I know my pain will not be wasted
Christ completes his work in me

Come rejoice now, O my soul
For his love is my reward
Fear is gone and hope is sure
Christ is mine forevermore!

Christ is Mine Forevermore- CityAlight
(I highly recommend listening to the rest of the song!!)
